HCA Healthcare/HealthONE’s Swedish Medical Center has invested more than $150 million in the expansion and revitalization of the hospital’s campus over the past three years, including the creation of a neuro intensive care unit and expanding orthopedic and robotic surgical and inpatient services. Visitor parking capacity was also greatly expanded with the addition of a dedicated employee parking garage.
Wells Concrete contributed to the parking garage portion of this addition and recently completed the erection of the hospital’s new boiler room with nearly 20,000 square feet of precast concrete. The structural precast components included double tees, flat slabs, rib slabs along with precast stairs. The exterior façade boats architectural insulated walls with a mix of General Shale – Architectural Classics – Autumn leaf Grain thin brick, Basalite 900r Ground Face CMU and acid etch finishes. Industry partners, Innovative Brick Systems, LLC worked closely with Wells to develop a seamless system to cast in the brick and CMU with results that rival site installed masonry.
